ISO/IEC 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for an Information Security Management System. An ISMS is the framework an organization uses to identify information-security risks, establish appropriate controls, assign accountability, and continually improve how information is protected.

Certification means an independent certification body has assessed the organization’s ISMS against the requirements of the standard. It is not simply a statement that an organization takes security seriously; it is evidence that defined practices, governance, and oversight are in place and subject to external review.
